More than 3000 years ago, Ramses II, the greatest Pharaoh of Egypt, ruled the Egyptian Empire for 67 years. Bas relief sculptures of his great chariot battles were carved into the granite and sandstone blocks of the ancient temple of Abu Simbel. Inspired by my recent research trip to Egypt, this relief of Ramses II captures the magnificence of the ancient Egyptian stylized sculpture.
